Choosing the correct red light bulb

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Which TYPE of bulb is best?

There are several technologies that can be utilized to generate light. For this discussion, we will only look at the several types home users might commonly see or use.

  • Incandescent – the “old” standard bulbs that most houses were filled with till about the past decade.
  • Fluorescent – are either long tubes, or spiral screw in bulbs that sometimes hum or flicker.
  • LED – are usually very bright, and blight blue, they are also very energy efficient.

Incandescent bulbs are slowly being replaced by more energy efficient bulbs, but the efficiency we gain causes these new light sources to become much less natural. Incandescent bulbs are a lot like the sun, they emit a much wider band of light and energy, this extra energy and light comes in handy for red light therapy.

LED and Fluorescent cause several types of disturbances. One of the aspects they take advantage of for increased efficiency, is a narrower band of light output, which means we get less of the good stuff from them. In order to run this more advanced technology, circuit boards and other electronics are needed, which not only cause the light source itself to flicker, but can feedback ‘dirty’ electricity to nearby electrical devices. LEDs are much worse with the flickering issue, and also put out virtually zero heat. Fluorescent bulbs contain mercury and other toxins, LED are similar but not as volatile.

So, Incandescent provides the heat, and band of light we want, Fluorescent is toxic, and LED is missing most of the good stuff. LED may come in handy for specific applications of red or other specific bands of light, but for overall red light therapy, Incandescent is the winner.

So which bulb do I buy?

For general red light therapy use, any 100 watt to 250 watt incandescent bulb with a red coating should provide the light and energy we are looking for. But it would be best to make sure the manufacturing process and red coating do not leave us with a bulb that might gas off toxins.

Here is a short list of bulbs that most likely have good manufacturing processes and won’t gas off any toxins.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”859″ img_size=”large” onclick=”custom_link” link=”https://warminglight.com/product/industrial-performance-250w-130v/”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

RUBYLUX

$29.99[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Get This Bulb” style=”outline” shape=”square” color=”warning” size=”lg” align=”right” i_align=”right” i_icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-hand-o-right” add_icon=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwarminglight.com%2Fproduct%2Frubylux-250w-120v%2F|title:RubyLux%20250w%20120v||”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]All of the bulbs listed are available in 250 Watt, some are available in 100 Watt and 125 Watt. If you are looking for a prettier bulb, the RubyLux and TheraBulb bulbs seem to have a smoother surface. If you are looking for the least expensive option, the Industrial Performance bulb will most likely be the way to go. Some red light bulbs claim to have stronger or wider bands of light, but so far this doesn’t seem to be noticeable to most users.

What to screw the bulb into?

Now that we know what’s up with the bulbs, what do we use to aim the bulb at ourselves? This depends on several factors.

  • Just starting with single bulb, or utilizing more
  • Our living conditions
  • The position we find comfortable and our ability to move
